About the 4 to 12 Initiative
Helping children ages 4–12 build lifelong healthy habits through experiences in nutrition, movement, and wellness.
What is 4 to 12?
4to12 is a community initiative designed to help elementary school children build healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Through partnerships with schools and local organizations, students participate in hands-on experiences focused on healthy eating, physical activity, and overall wellness.
Activities may include cooking classes, gardening, sports, dance, and wellness education giving children real-world experiences that make healthy living engaging and memorable.
By introducing children to positive habits early, 4to12 helps build healthier communities for the future.
Why it matters?
Healthy habits begin early in life, yet many children do not have consistent access to experiences that teach them about nutrition, movement, and overall wellness.
4to12 helps fill this gap by connecting schools with community partners who can provide engaging, real-world experiences that promote healthy living.
When children learn early how to care for their bodies and minds, those habits can last a lifetime.
The 4 to 12 Model
Each participating school experiences a series of activities throughout the year focused on three pillars:
Grow
learning about nutrition and healthy food
Move
exploring fun ways to stay physically active
Thrive
building confidence and lifelong wellness habits
A Community Effort
4to12 is built on collaboration between schools, families, and local organizations.
Community partners, including sports organizations, farms, cooking programs, dance studios, and wellness experts help host experiences that bring the program to life.
Together, these partnerships help children grow, move, and thrive.
Our Vision
Create a future where every child should have the opportunity to develop healthy habits early in life.
By working together with schools and community partners, 4 to 12 aims to bring engaging health experiences to children across our communities.
